1956年4月出生于重庆，1983年毕业于西南师范大学，1994年至1996年研读于俄罗斯赫尔岑国立师范大学造型艺术系。现为四川美术学院教授，中国策展委员会委员，艺术社会学研究所所长，中国雕塑艺委会理事，重庆美术家协会理事，中国美协会员。自1985始，出版编著、译著、合著共15部。在国内外艺术期刊发表论文80余篇。艺术作品多次发表于国家级、省部级的专业期刊。他出版和发表过许多专著、论文，其中包括对中国、韩国、俄罗斯、英国及欧洲等其他地区当代艺术的论著。
从1997年至今策划20多个大型学术展览，2009年，中央美术学院美术馆“碰撞--关于中国当代艺术实验的案例”，2010-2011系列展览“实验报告：关于中国当代艺术的视觉档案”，2012年上海美术馆“景象一中国新艺术”，2013年匈牙利德布勒森美术馆“景观再造一中国当代艺术展等。并在任职期间，与威尼斯双年展巴塞尔艺术博览会、台湾《典藏》杂志、中国批评家年会、以及国内各大专业美术馆等展开了广泛的艺术交流与合作。
他注重艺术教育与艺术创作与社会公共文化之间的关联。对专业艺术媒体和非盈利性艺术空间的管理、运营进行了研究与实践。策划了一系列跨地域、多学科、综合形式的艺术展览学术论坛，提升当代艺术的社会公众认知度和理解力。
主要策展经历包括柳州文化艺术中心《转型时期的俄罗斯艺术--欧里根·雅克宁》(1997)、重庆美术馆 《当代俄罗斯艺术》、重庆美术馆 《嬉戏的图像--2006中国当代艺术邊请展》、坦克库·重庆当代艺术中心《异质现场--最新影像艺术展》武汉美术馆 《你西我东》等。
Born in Chongqing in April 1956, graduated from Southwest Normal University in 1983, studied at the Department of Plastic Arts of Herzen State Normal University in Russia from 1994 to 1996. Currently a professor at Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, a member of the China Curatorial Committee, director of the Institute of Art Sociology, a director of the China Sculpture Art Committee, a director of the Chongqing Artists Association, and a member of the China Artists Association. Since 1985, he has published 15 books, including compilations, translations, and co-authors. He has published more than 80 papers in art journals at home and abroad. His art works have been published in national, provincial and ministerial professional journals for many times. He has published and presented many monographs and papers, including those on contemporary art in China, South Korea, Russia, the United Kingdom and other regions in Europe.
Since 1997, he has curated more than 20 large-scale academic exhibitions, including the “碰撞--关于中国当代艺术实验的案例” at the Central Academy of Fine Arts Art Museum in 2009, the 2010-2011 series of exhibitions “实验报告：关于中国当代艺术的视觉档案”, the 2012 Shanghai Art Museum “Scenes: New Chinese Art”, and the 2013 Debrecen Art Museum in Hungary “Landscape Reconstruction: Chinese Contemporary Art Exhibition”. During his tenure, he also worked with the Venice Biennale and the He has carried out extensive art exchanges and cooperation with the Searle Art Fair, Taiwan's "典藏" magazine, the Chinese Critics Annual Conference, and major professional art galleries in China.
He focuses on the relationship between art education and artistic creation and social public culture. He has conducted research and practice on the management and operation of professional art media and non-profit art spaces. He has planned a series of cross-regional, multidisciplinary, and comprehensive art exhibition academic forums to enhance the public's awareness and understanding of contemporary art.
