Born in 2000 in Shanghai, China, Artist Ni Hao is currently a postgraduate student at East China Normal University. Personal narratives and social facts are not separate domains; rather, the practice of the artist's personal experience is often closely linked to larger public issues. Through various thematic works, the artist hopes to lead the viewer to re-examine their individual situations. His work has been widely featured in mainstream magazines such as <ArtChina><IDEAT><AD/Architectural Digest> and <FIGARO>.
The artist contemplates the nature of painting, and the highly personal colours and shapes in his images contain a metaphor for the times. The various concepts that emerge from the current of the times are the result of the artists' attempts to hover and explore in the gap between different, even fragmented, value systems and spaces. The artists use what his observing and thinking as the starting point, paying attention to and exposing the contradictory consciousness of life, thus achieving the purpose of reframing the Present. Ni Hao is good at using bold and firm brushstrokes to portray the life episodes of the characters, presenting strange and contradictory daily scenes with strange colours and deviant shapes, making his works more surrealistic. The images depicted seem to frozen at a certain dramatic point, but it also implies a hidden agenda that drives the events, leading the viewer to think about the bigger picture hidden behind it. In today's world of extreme weather and escalating regional conflicts, the fate of most individuals is also covered in a layer of gloom, just like the people and animals represented by the artist, who have no choice but to hiss in silence to resist all kinds of uneasiness.
