1969年生于湖南长沙，1990年毕业于中国湖南长沙理工大学美术系，1999年赴美国学习工作数年，现工作生活于北京。
陈雷是 80 年代末 90 年代初湖南“新形象”艺术运动的代表人物，也是中国首个双年展——1992年中国广州艺术双年展（油画部分）获优秀奖最年轻的艺术家。他的作品多次在中外艺术机构和国际性艺术博览会展出，被国内外艺术机构及私人收藏。
1969 Born in ChangSha, HuNan Province, China. 1990 Graduated from ChangSha Science & Technology University of Fine Art. 1999 Went to the United States to study and work for decades, and currently lives and works in Beijing.
Chen Lei is a representative of Hunan's “New Image” art movement in the late 80's and early 90's. He was also the youngest artist to win the Award of Excellence at China's first biennale, the 1992 Guangzhou Art Biennale (Oil Painting Section). His works have been exhibited in Chinese and foreign art organizations and international art fairs, and have been collected by domestic and foreign art organizations and private collectors.
