福建平和人。1924年毕业于厦门美专，1925年考入巴黎国立高等美术学校，师从约斯·罗隆。著名油画艺术家、美术教育家。1930年学成回国。先后在上海美专、新华艺专、杭州艺专执教。1949年间赴台湾、香港、新加坡旅行写生并举办画展。1950年由香港赴印度尼西亚，在那里创作了大量风景和静物画，那时可说进入了他的艺术鼎盛期。1959年离开印度尼西亚回国，到上海美术专科学校任教。曾任上海美协理事、上海文联委员、上海侨联荣誉委员、上海交大艺术顾问等。
Born in Pinghe, Fujian. Graduated from Xiamen Fine Arts College in 1924, and enrolled in Paris National Higher School of Fine Arts in 1925, where he studied under José Rollon. A famous oil painting artist and art educator. Returned to China after completing his studies in 1930. He taught successively at Shanghai Fine Arts College, Xinhua Fine Arts College, and Hangzhou Fine Arts College. In 1949, he traveled to Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore to sketch and hold exhibitions. In 1950, he went from Hong Kong to Indonesia, where he created a large number of landscapes and still life paintings. It can be said that he entered the heyday of his art. In 1959, he left Indonesia and returned to China to teach at Shanghai Fine Arts College. He was once a director of the Shanghai Artists Association, a member of the Shanghai Federation of Literary and Art Circles, an honorary member of the Shanghai Overseas Chinese Federation, and an art consultant for Shanghai Jiaotong University.
