中国近代画家，原籍安徽，生于江苏武进，毕业于江苏第二高等师范学校。1926年赴欧洲旅行，考察西洋美术，1927年创办「艺苑绘画研究所」，数次赴日考察。1941年赴美国，创办「华美画学院」。善中西绘画，以水彩画见长，西画风格受塞尚影响，又具东方艺术气质，国画重写生，墨色淋漓，自具风貌。
A modern Chinese painter, he was born in Wujin, Jiangsu Province, and graduated from Jiangsu Second Higher Normal School. In 1926, he traveled to Europe to study Western art. In 1927, he founded the "艺苑绘画研究所" and visited Japan several times. In 1941, he went to the United States and founded the "华美画学院". He is good at Chinese and Western painting, especially watercolor painting. His Western painting style was influenced by Cézanne, but also has the temperament of oriental art. Chinese painting emphasizes sketching, and the ink is dripping, which has its own style.
