浙江海宁人。著名年画大家，新中国年画八大家之一，中国美术家协会会员，中国民主同盟盟员。从小喜欢绘画，资质敏慧，学习勤奋，1928年入上海“稚英画室”学习，后长期从事年画创作，1954年受聘为上海画片出版社特约年画作者，1956年受聘为上海人民美术出版社特约年画作者，并创办慕白画室，培养青年年画作者。李慕白曾得杭稚英、陈秋草两位良师的热心提携，他的作品在造型能力和色彩修养上都具有相当高的造诣，人物形象虚实结合，亮部明亮丰富，暗部呈现对比色彩，描绘年轻女性和儿童肤色柔润，表现出丰姿秀丽的体态和明媚的光线效果。曾获“第三届全国年画评奖三等奖”、“第三届全国年画评奖一等奖”、“第六届全国美术作品展荣誉奖章”。代表作有《中国人民的伟大领袖毛主席》《采莲图》《武松打虎》。作品曾被中国美术馆收藏。
Born in Haining, Zhejiang. A famous New Year painting artist, one of the eight great New Year painting artists in New China, a member of the Chinese Artists Association, and a member of the China Democratic League. He has loved painting since childhood, is intelligent, and diligent in study. In 1928, he entered the "Zhiying Painting Studio" in Shanghai to study, and later engaged in New Year painting creation for a long time. In 1954, he was hired as a special New Year painting author by Shanghai Picture Publishing House, and in 1956, he was hired as a special New Year painting author by Shanghai People's Fine Arts Publishing House. He also founded the Mubai Painting Studio to train young New Year painting authors. Li Mubai was enthusiastically supported by two good teachers, Hang Zhiying and Chen Qiucao. His works have a very high level of attainment in modeling ability and color cultivation. The characters are a combination of reality and illusion, the bright parts are bright and rich, and the dark parts present contrasting colors. He depicts the soft skin color of young women and children, showing a beautiful figure and bright light effects. He has won the "Third Prize of the Third National New Year Painting Award", "First Prize of the Third National New Year Painting Award", and "Honorary Medal of the Sixth National Art Exhibition". His representative works include“中国人民的伟大领袖毛主席”,“采莲图”, and“武松打虎”. His works have been collected by the National Art Museum of China.
