方君璧 Fan Tchunpi ( 1898—1986 )

女,福建闽侯人。中国二十世纪初为数不多的女性画家之一。出生于名门望族,曾经留学法国,在巴黎期间其作品《吹笛女》作为第一位中国女性画家的作品入选“巴黎美术展览会”。1984年巴黎博物馆为她举办了“方君璧从艺六十年回顾展”,给予这位在巴黎起步的东方女画家的业绩以充分的肯定。被誉为“东方杰出的女画家”。代表作品《吹笛女》、《拈花凝思》等。

在中西融合改良中国画的道路上,方君璧做出的贡献其实并不亚于同时代的男性艺术家。她提倡以素描的写实精神来改革传统中国绘画艺术理念和目标,虽未像林风眠、徐悲鸿等人有明确出版自己的艺术理念,然而在这场改良中国画的运动中,贡献依旧显着。其油画极赋东方色彩,她倾心将中国画所具有的意境和气韵融入其中,不仅设色强烈,而且用笔雄健,一扫闺秀作风,而国画在传统写意之余,亦不失油画笔法。其静物作品在引入阴阳透视的观看方式外,还以纯真质朴的表现手法展现出物象的生机和活力,花卉之作则敷色清雅,以勾线平涂突显韵味,人物肖像更是观察入微,以其女性独特的视角和细腻的情感,在将严谨的轮廓与传统绘画的写意结合之中捕捉人物的神韵与精妙。在某种程度上,作为“五四”新女性代表人物的方君璧,以她单纯的艺术才华与独特的审美品格,不仅成为中国现代美术的拓荒者,也成为推动中国画向现代转型进程中不可或缺的有力先锋。


Female, from Minhou, Fujian. One of the few female painters in China in the early 20th century. Born into a prominent family, she once studied in France. During her time in Paris, her work "吹笛女" was selected as the first work of a Chinese female painter in the "Paris Art Exhibition". In 1984, the Paris Museum held a "方君璧从艺六十年回顾展" for her, fully affirming the achievements of this oriental female painter who started in Paris. Known as "the outstanding female painter in the East". Representative works include "吹笛女" and "拈花凝思".

In the road of reforming Chinese painting by integrating Chinese and Western cultures, Fan Tchunpi's contribution is actually no less than that of male artists of the same generation. She advocated the reform of traditional Chinese painting art concepts and goals with the realistic spirit of sketching. Although she did not clearly publish her own artistic concepts like Lin Fengmian, Xu Beihong and others, her contribution to this movement to reform Chinese painting is still significant. Her oil paintings are full of oriental colors. She is devoted to incorporating the artistic conception and charm of Chinese paintings into them. Not only are the colors strong, but the brushwork is also vigorous, sweeping away the style of ladies. In addition to the traditional freehand brushwork of Chinese paintings, her still life works not only introduce the viewing method of yin and yang perspective, but also show the vitality and vigor of the objects with pure and simple expression methods. The flowers are elegantly colored, and the charm is highlighted by flat painting with outlines. The portraits are even more meticulously observed. With her unique female perspective and delicate emotions, she captures the charm and exquisiteness of the characters by combining rigorous outlines with the freehand brushwork of traditional paintings. To a certain extent, as a representative of the "May Fourth" new women, Fan Tchunpi, with her pure artistic talent and unique aesthetic character, has not only become a pioneer of modern Chinese art, but also an indispensable and powerful pioneer in promoting the transformation of Chinese painting to modern times.
