陶艾民的艺术综合了现成品使用和民间艺术的手法，并涉及绘画、书法、拓印、影像、装置等多个门类。她的作品游弋于大众和精英文化、传统和当代艺术之间，对艺术创作权、艺术自我表达、劳动、身体经验和集体记忆等问题富有深刻而细腻的哲思。
她曾荣获吴作人国际美术基金会萧淑芳艺术提名奖（2008年），以及“AAC艺术中国”年度艺术家装置多媒体类提名（2009年）。30年选30件，入选中国当代艺术最具影响力30件装置作品之一（2016年）。
陶艾民的作品二十年内参加国内外展览60多场，其中包括：新南威尔士州艺术博物馆（2024），挪威利勒哈默尔美术馆， 奥地利萨尔茨堡现代博物馆（2023），香港大馆当代美术馆（2021年）， 德国首都柏林美术馆（2020年），土耳其伊斯坦布尔米马尔希南艺术大学（2013年），美国费城卓克索大学美术馆（2011年），北京中国美术馆（2009年），美国休斯敦Deborah Colton画廊（2007年），以及丹麦奥尔堡北日德兰艺术馆（2005年）等。

Tao Aimin's art combines the use of ready-made products and folk art techniques, and involves painting, calligraphy, rubbing, video, installation and other categories. Her works move fluently between elite and popular culture and between the languages of traditional and contemporary art. She has profound and delicate thoughts on issues such as the right to artistic creation, artistic self-expression, labor, physical experience and collective memory.
She has been nominated for the International Fine Arts Foundation's Xiao Shufang Art Nomination Award (2008) and Artist of the Year in the Multimedia Installation category of AAC Art China (2009). Selected 30 works in 30 years, selected as one of the 30 Most influential Installations of Chinese Contemporary Art (2016).
