Born in Shaanxi in 1990, lives and works in Beijing. He graduated with a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and a master’s degree in Pratt Institute, New York in 2017. Ye Jiang's works are always centered on the understanding of painting and the translation of personal experience, seeing painting as a means to visualize and materialize visual understanding. He believes that all perceptions in contemporary life are constructed, and that first-hand experience is not the thing itself. Painting, on the other hand, leaves a mark in the midst of change, like a sword in a boat, where the sword is the opportunity and the mark is the reality. In this process, the artist puts aside the viewer's obsession with reality and tries to intervene in reality by using painting to give a real texture to virtual images.
