Additionally, she possesses a professional background as a paramedic and firefighter. Born and raised in Chicago, Rush began her DJ career at the age of ten and ventured into music production by the age of thirteen.
She has been influenced by prominent figures such as Robert Armani, Lester Fitzpatrick, Cajmere, DJ Milton, and DJ Deeon. In 1996, she collaborated with DJ Deeon on a release through Dance Mania, titledDJ Deeon Presents The Youngest Female DJ.
During her time as a DJ at WKKC in the early 1990s, Jana Rush gained friendships with DJ Rashad, Gant-Man, and Nehpets. Since then, she has been a regular in Chicago's juke and footwork scenes.
