1993年出生，现居住、工作于上海。图像艺术家，中央美术学院摄影艺术研究硕士，高校教师。他的创作持续关注人类精神的记录，从私人情感到集体感受，体会周遭环境的变化和个人历史的流逝，以图像作为主要的表达方式。近年来，他围绕媒介与图像的关系，试图通过对图像的研究来探寻人的意识形态，并追问图像生产的思维模式。曾获柏林C/O人才奖提名（2024）、徕卡奥斯卡巴纳克摄影奖提名（2022）、第八届侯登科纪实摄影奖提名（2022）、西双版纳国际影像展最佳国内摄影师奖（2021）、第七届中国摄影年度排行榜（2020）、TOP20中国当代摄影新锐奖（2019）、首届1839摄影奖大奖（2019），入选索尼世界摄影奖（2018）、第十届三影堂摄影奖（2018）等奖项。作品和文章见于《中国摄影》《中国摄影家》《数码摄影》《画刊》《美国国家地理（中文版）》等刊物，出版画册《中国当代摄影图录/王翰林》。
Born in 1993, currently resides and works in Shanghai. He holds a Master's degree in Photography Art Research from the Central Academy of Fine Arts and works as a university lecturer. His artistic practice consistently focuses on the documentation of human psyche, spanning from personal emotions to collective sentiments, while contemplating the transformations of surrounding environments and the passage of personal history. He primarily employs imagery as his mode of expression. In recent years, he has focused on the relationship between media and images, attempting to explore human ideologies through the study of images and questioning the cognitive frameworks behind image production. He has been nominated for several prestigious awards, including the C/O Berlin Talent Award (2024), Leica Oskar Barnack Photography Award (2022), the 8th Hou Dengke Documentary Photography Award (2022), Best Domestic Photographer at the Xishuangbanna International Image Exhibition (2021), the 7th China Photography Annual Ranking (2020), TOP20 Chinese Contemporary Photography New Talent Award (2019), the inaugural 1839 Photography Award (2019), and has been selected for the Sony World Photography Awards (2018) and the 10th Three Shadows Photography Award (2018), etc. The works and articles are commonly seen in Chinese photography, Chinese photographer, Digital photography, National Geographic Chinese version, and other publications. The album "Atlas of contemporary Chinese photography / Wang Hanlin" has been published.
