Born in Seoul, South Korea in 1983, she received her master's and bachelor's degrees in Asian traditional painting from Seoul National University in South Korea in 2013, and graduated from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University with a master's degree in fine arts in 2016. From 2017 to date, she has been pursuing a doctorate in fine arts at the University of Paris VIII, Vincennes-Saint-Denis, France, and currently works and lives in Paris, France.
She approaches the concept of landscape according to two different definitions: the French concept of landscape, where landscape can be defined as a view experienced on a demarcated territory, and the concept of landscape through the prism of the Korean concept Poong kyeon, where we can approach it in different ways. The Korean landscape, which has been divided by the North-South border throughout the country's history, has now become an imagined landscape that is both real and illusory, presenting different ideologies. Through her definition of Korean landscape, she recreates new landscapes from the landscape scenes that Korea has experienced in order to see them for what they are, that is, natural scenes, without ideological horizons. Since her studies in Paris, she has inherited her traditional knowledge and incorporated it into contemporary art.
