Born in 1965 in Rendsburg, Germany, after graduating from the University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf with a degree in graphic design, he immediately settled in Amsterdam and began his career as a freelance artist. He is now one of the most famous illustrators in the world. Although he mainly lives and works in Berlin, his frequent travel experiences have also profoundly influenced his creations. He incorporates what he sees and hears into his works, expressing traditional African art, Indian temple art, South American folklore and elements of popular culture in a novel way, so his works are uniquely recognizable.

As an outstanding illustrator, Olaf Hajek is also proficient in narrative art and was selected into the American Illustration Yearbook in 2024. He uses surreal expression techniques to express his thoughts and create thought-provoking visual effects. Through perfectly skilled illustrations, he constructs fascinating visual patterns, scenes and creative characters, interweaving nature and skills. He is keen on depicting animals and plants, ancient symbols and current themes, and cleverly integrates them into his works. His works create an artistic space full of retro atmosphere with their rich details and vivid colors. He believes that beauty is indispensable, but he also firmly believes that true beauty always hides a dark side.
