1956年出生于重庆，1986年硕士毕业于四川美术学院工艺系漆器专业。
对线条的大量运用是朱小禾作品中最为显著的特征，也是他所实践的“单义性艺术”的载体。朱小禾摒弃了再现的艺术手法，转而借助线条符号的层叠，复述、显微、解构他所捕获的视觉元素——或来⾃收藏的连环画集，抑或是来⾃现实的影像，抑或是来⾃出其不意的“发明”对象，直至其被书写性的笔触所遮蔽，成为被排除了经验与话语的中立载体。生活影像由此转变成为时间影像，我们虽能从模糊的块面结构中寻觅到部分视觉图像的踪迹，但这并非朱小禾所预设的结果，他真正关心的是绘画时的感知与思辨，以及“书写”过程中游离于线条间的感觉。朱小禾让媒介本身通过“劳动”成为了主体，而这种去符号、去母题化、去艺术家主体的创作也为其开拓出了某种超越语言、风格本身的艺术实践道路。
Born in Chongqing in 1956 and graduated with a master's degree in lacquerware from the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in 1986.
The extensive use of lines is the most significant feature of Zhu Xiaohe's works, and is also the carrier of his practice of "univocal art". Zhu Xiaohe abandons the artistic method of reproduction and turns to the layering of line symbols to retell, microscope, and deconstruct the visual elements he captures - either from his collection of comic books, or from real images, or from unexpected "inventions" - until they are written down. The visual elements - either from collections of comic books, real images, or unexpected "inventions" - become neutral carriers that are excluded from experience and discourse until they are obscured by the written brushstrokes. The image of life is thus transformed into the image of time, and although we can find some traces of visual images in the blurred block structure, this is not the result that Zhu Xiaohe presupposes; what he really cares about is the perception and discernment during the drawing process, and the feeling of being free from lines during the process of "writing". Zhu Xiaohe lets the medium itself become the subject through "labor", and this kind of punctuation-less, motif-less, and subject-less creativity also opens up a certain way of artistic practice that transcends language and style itself.
