1965年生于上海。目前居住、工作于上海。为上海中华艺术宫（上海美术馆）前任执行馆长及同济大学客座教授。同时为国家一级美术师、中国美术家协会实验艺术委员会副主任及上海市美术家协会副主席。
李磊从事中国抽象艺术的创作与研究超过20年，并且致力于将中国文化中的核心概念融入国际上已成熟的抽象艺术语言当中，以此打造一条中国的抽象艺术之道。2014年，他开始尝试结合空间的艺术创作，以空间性的叙事、空间性的表现及空间性的分析为旨，呈现其作品戏剧性的视觉实践。在李磊的绘画艺术发展上，其风格深具「兼容并蓄的哲学性」及独特的中国式诗性抽象。
Born in Shanghai in 1965. Currently living and working in Shanghai. He is the former executive director of Shanghai China Art Palace (Shanghai Art Museum) and visiting professor of Tongji University. At the same time, he is a national first-class artist, deputy director of the Experimental Art Committee of the China Artists Association and vice chairman of the Shanghai Artists Association.
Li Lei has been engaged in the creation and research of Chinese abstract art for more than 20 years, and is committed to integrating the core concepts of Chinese culture into the internationally mature abstract art language to create a Chinese abstract art path. In 2014, he began to experiment with artistic creation that combines space, aiming at spatial narrative, spatial expression and spatial analysis to present the dramatic visual practice of his works. In terms of the development of Li Lei's painting art, his style is deeply "inclusive and philosophical" and has a unique Chinese poetic abstraction.
