1975年出生于沈阳，曾就读于鲁迅美术学院摄影系及厦门大学艺术学院多媒体与综合材料系，现工作及生活于北京。
阎实早年在广东从事摄影记者的工作，后来转向艺术创作。作品涉及影像、行为和绘画，他关注生活上习以为常的事情，并反省、质疑它们存在的合理性。
Born in Shenyang in 1975, he studied in the Photography Department of Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts and the Multimedia and Comprehensive Materials Department of Xiamen University Art College. He currently works and lives in Beijing.
Yan Shi worked as a photojournalist in Guangdong in his early years, and later turned to artistic creation. His works involve images, performances and paintings. He pays attention to the things he takes for granted in life, and reflects on and questions the rationality of their existence.
