Zhao Yinou's creative media include canvas, paper and woodcut. Some of her works bear the color of Pre-Raphaelite paintings: human figures slowly appear from the halo, as if they can disappear at any time, either moving towards an invisible goal, or performing mysterious rituals. Others have a sombre quality, with the artist depicting scenes of cannibalism or mentally ill bodies walking through the hospital.
Zhao Yinou's woodcut works are also difficult to define. The mythical characters and monsters in the paintings often take on strange shapes, with weird postures that seem to break out of the frame. Strong brush strokes outline the shape, which combined with the exposed wooden original color creates a strong attraction for the audience.
