Ding Qiao's main research direction is the theory, method and aesthetics of court painting in the Song Dynasty, including ink landscapes and meticulous flowers and birds of the Southern Song Dynasty. Ding Qiao's contemporary exploration of this traditional technique and visual art language in creation focuses on the fusion and sensory linkage of East Asian painting - the intertwining of sound elements in poetry and music art with the visual image experience in painting. Through the artist's creation and expression and the viewer's imagination and interpretation, a comprehensive sensory experience is formed by combining the space, lines, graphics and colors in the picture.
