Born in Anhui in 1988, he graduated from Nanjing University of the Arts in 2012 and received a master's degree in oil painting from Nanjing University of the Arts in 2016. He currently works and lives in Nanjing.
In Zhang Kexue's latest creation, he suspended the direct narration and narrative of the characters. Bright and soft colors dissolve the solid shadows of the past, and the theatrical scenes collapse into a hazy and flat horizon. The focus of the picture gradually focuses on the single objects and people, thus showing a sacred sense of portraiture, allowing the environment to refract them into different colors. Painting is like another projection of life for Kexue. Those things that seem ordinary to others have become allegories and metaphors in his pen. The artist's latest creation restrains the expression of external ironic metaphors and pays more attention to the intrinsic connection between self and daily life. This work maintains continuity and echo with his previous works. Through the sensitive capture of the fleeting atmosphere of the body and objects, it shows his thinking about the passage of time, the perception of existence, and the hidden deep emotional changes.
